Comments:
R5503 is a former U.S. Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Boat acquired by NOAA in 2016 and retrofitted for scientific research.  The vessel offers a great deal of flexibility for Great Lakes researchers with a combination of maneuverability, speed, range, sampling capabilities and lift capacity.  R5503 is very well suited for deploying buoys and other moorings as well as vertical sampling and offers limited overnight accommodations for up to 4 personnel.
