Comments:

The Barney Devine was built by Burger Boat Company of Manitowoc, WI. Built in 1937 the R/V Barney Devine was the oldest active research vessel in the Great Lakes until replacement. She was a modified commercial fish tug with a home port of Sturgeon Bay, WI. 

After 75 years of service, she has been replaced by R/V Coregonus. 

The Barney Devine was sold to a commercial fisherman and is now commercial fishing on the shores of Lake Superior.
